Especially around the door handles, where everybody is grabbing to open the fridge. There are a lot of different ways you can go about cleaning it. I like to opt for simple. Let’s talk about the store bought option, Bar Keepers Friend Soft Cleanser. This is hands down one of my favorite cleaning products. The application is easy and works like a charm, bonus points, it also removes rust.
You will need
- Bar Keepers friend Soft Cleanser
- Non Abrasive Sponge
- Microfiber Cloth
Apply the product onto the sponge and with the grain of the stainless steel, usually horizontal wipe your surface. Rinse the sponge of any product and wipe the surface. To get that nice shine, buff the door with a clean microfiber towel. Super simple right!
The next method involves household products that usually are in the pantry, Vinegar and Olive Oil. Vinegar has antimicrobial properties and is great at cutting grease, perfect for kitchen appliances.
You will need
- White Vinegar
- Olive Oil
- Spary Bottle ( optional)
- Microfiber Cloths
You can use a spray bottle to pour vinegar into and directly apply to the fridge. You can also apply vinegar to a microfiber cloth and with the grain of the stainless steel, wipe the product on. The great thing about this is that you don’t need to wipe it down. For a polishing effect, some olive oi. A little of this product goes a long way. Apply on cloth and again same direction as before. Finish it up with clean microfiber cloth to buff and it will look like new.
Always wipe with the grain of the the steel, this is the best way no matter what cleaner to avoid a streaky look.
How to remove water spots from stainless steel appliances?
If you have a water dispenser on your fridge, chances are you might get water spots. Bar Keepers Friend soft cleanser is great for removing the water spots, alternatively you can also use vinegar. For the drip trays you can wash them if removable. If not you can also leave a paper towel with vinegar for about 15 minutes . Follow the directions above to get your fridge looking like new.
What should I not to use on Stainless steel refrigerator?
You should avoid using abrasive scouring powders, bleach, ammonia, stainless steel wool, and abrasive sponges. They are prone to scratches and can damage the finish of the fridge.
